>diagram< has already caused a stir with its gruff roaring bassline juxtapositioned against the warm uplifting strings and pads. this is an intelligent and beautiful piece of electronic music, but still has the weight to work on the dancefloor and will appeal to a wide range of house and techno djs.

alain ho aka dj yellow is one of the electronic music artists who established himself as one of the forward thinking artists in general. in the eighties dj yellow pushed forward french hip hop and he also had big influence on what french house music is today. with his label yellow productions (founded 1993 with his mate bob sinclar) he released artists like salome de bahia, dimitri from paris, joe clausell, bang bang and kid loco. with his second imprint poussez music (founded in 2003) he created an outlet for his own sounds.

after their great debut >motzbaz / indeed< on afao recordings and the following 12inches >hello kool nice< and <langenthal ep< on quintessentials recordings, which found its way into the bags and charts of djs like quarion, laurent garnier, jimpster and many more, jagged strikes back with a 12 on bonzzaj recordings. this single also contains a hot remix by the dutch multi-talented man aardvarck, one half of the rednose district. jaggeds productions are restrained and minimal in the right way - they doesnt let things get overloaded. they focuses mainly on straight beats and functional house music but always with the right ingredient of soul and rawness. the title track ten to twelve is a heavy cut with a lot of disco influences, funky basslines, cool house-grooves and surprising changes all over the track. the remix of ten to twelve comes from aardvarck, who releases on rushhour, kindred spirits and delsin. he transformed the original in an broken beat stomper, which sounds like it emerged straight out of londons co-op. the b-side contains chicago, a deep house number with forward going percussions, warm strings, oldscool-house-vocals and a slight acid flavour and last but not least the track an orange drippin, which takes you with its deep synth, percussions, basslines, bells and things in the deeper shades of…jagged nation. hot shit gesundheit

it was only a matter of time. two genre-defining artists together ... pop music and dance musics most famous arbiters of taste, collaborating at last. dj hells >u can dance< is an interpretation of an unreleased bryan ferry song, but its one that reflects a perfect melding of two distinct personalities, a record that sounds as if the voice and music were made for each other.
hell, of course, has been riding high on the success of >teufelswerk<, his masterpiece of a double album, a journey replete with fruitful experiments and club bombs. one that has yielded both massive hits and not a tiny bit of controversy along the way. ferry, meanwhile, has been as busy as ever—recording a new album, performing in places as far afield as siberia, opening up the cannes film festival ... basically just being bryan ferry.
and now here they are together ... it all started in 2006 when hell dropped in to meet ferry at his west london studio. at first they discussed hell remixing an old roxy music track, and then it turned into something else - something new (u can dance).
they had similar impressions of one another — hell: >i was impressed by his aura and his look.<, ferry: >he impressed us with his sophistication and charm.< fast forward a few years later, and hell is hard at work on teufelswerk and putting the finishing touches on the aforementioned song titled >u can dance<, a serpentine moroder-esque disco burner. with the help of old friend peter kruder, of kruder and dorfmeister fame, hell fashioned the song into a smoldering nine-minute highlight of the double disc set, in which ferry turns in a typically assured vocal performance.

title track >play the music< kicks off the ep in understated but highly effective style. forged from a brooding low-down bass with plenty of wiggle this track cuts a heavy mechanical groove through waves of sci-fi effects as it builds and drops.
>funky junkie< pumps up the tempo for a full-on ride through funked-uppercussive techno. centered on a groove of big heavy kicks and jacking snaresthis inventive vocal track joins the dots between early chicago house and techno.
>debug< completes the ep by taking a more stripped back approach, laying out a minimized tech house outline around which is added a combination of a bigbouncing bassline and layers of tribal horns, firing percussion and rising sirens.

this is the second release by antonelli for dreck after his boogie ep in 2007. in classic antonelli working method the material here is made without a cpu, just with hardware. this gives the tracks a warm feel and a sense of an older mode of production, but nevertheless the two tracks are fully rooted in the now! stefan schwander starts out with the idea of the bassline as a genre-defining element in music. he then works from this central idea towards an euphoric and a reductive version, resulting in the two tracks here at hand, >disconnected< on the a side, and >operatore< on the b side. they both feature a beautifully analogue disco (if not moroder) bassline, build up continuously without ever meandering or loosing direction - very straight and pushing the dancefloor forward with >operatore< being the more bouncy and carefree track of the two.

clone classic cuts continues to dig in the crates to bring back forgotten or obscure records from the past! this is 3 tracks by da posse (produced by hula... one of the outthere brothers... and with maurice joshua, k fingers & martell). strings & its my life are chicagos take on detroit techno... a rare release that sounds like a early derrick may record (think the dance) but maybe slightly more straight forward (as one might expect from chicago). a rare piece in house and techno history since this is one of the rare examples of a record that doesnt show the clear difference between chicago and detroit in the late 80s. this record most likely got produced within 1 year after rhythm = rhythms legendary nude photo and strings of life releases (both 87 and this came out in 88). as extra bonus track we have the groove. a phat bass driven chicago acid track that still rocks it. another fine piece of powerful dance music history back in the spot light!

here at the exprezoo headquarters we like to keep looking forward and to search for new and undiscovered talents, but we also like to go back to the sounds of our roots and, its not a secret, we are in love with neapolitan techno. blend these ingredients, stir for a while, and voila the fourth release on our catalog, by rio padice. actually, the kid isnt really a new one, since he s already had releases on welt,mosaiko, metroline limited and exprezoo digital besides being half of the new and hyped horacio project along with massi dl, but hes part of the new generation of neapolitan producers who keep going down the path started by marco carola and danilo vigorito. the a-side, don dragone, has a techno mood that we didnt feel for some time and that takes us back to when hardgroove was leading the dancefloors, updating and actualizing its sounds, while on the b-side elm street is made to satisfy the classiest tastes, taking the atmosphere towards a good-for-every-purpose dub techno. the last track on the ep, leviatano, keeps up the feeling we fell in love with on question and zenit, with funky percussions and sunny, warm synths.
